Creating your first draft

The Studio is where you write. Every manuscript on The Stream Facility lives inside a draft, which belongs to a book.

Create a book first

In your dashboard, go to Your Books and click New Book. Give it a title, optionally link it to a world and series, and save. You can fill in the cover, synopsis, and metadata later.

Open the Studio

From your book's dashboard page, click Studio (or navigate to it from the Forge sidebar). The Studio tab bar shows Plan, Write, Review, and Chat.

Your first draft

If no draft exists yet, you'll be prompted to create one. Name it (e.g. "First Draft") and the Studio will open to the Plan view.

Importing an existing manuscript

If you've already written chapters in Word or Google Docs, use Import in the Studio toolbar:

1. Export your document as DOCX or PDF
2. Click Import in the Studio header
3. Upload the file — the importer auto-detects heading hierarchy as Acts / Chapters / Scenes
4. Review the preview and confirm

Inline formatting (bold, italic) is preserved. After import you can reorganize the structure in Plan view.
