In-world date anchoring for scenes and chapters
Stream Facility lets you anchor acts, chapters, and individual scenes to specific dates in your world's in-world calendar. This powers several features:
- Codex entity highlighting shows each character's or location's state at the exact moment in the story
- AI write assist context automatically includes the world state at the scene's date
- World timeline can show which scenes take place during which eras
Setting a date on a chapter
In the Plan view, click a chapter to open its detail panel. Under In-world Date, choose an era from your world's calendar and enter a date value. The chapter inherits this date as a default for all its scenes.
Setting a date on a scene
Click a scene in the detail panel to open its settings. You can override the chapter's date with a scene-specific date. Scenes store a full structured WorldDate object (era + date), enabling sort-key-based entity context resolution.
What "world state" means
Each codex entity can have entity pages — snapshots of that entity's state at a particular in-world time range. When a scene has an anchored in-world date, the platform resolves which page snapshot was active at that moment and uses that data for entity highlighting and AI context.
This means if a character has a different name or allegiance in Act 1 versus Act 3, the write view and AI assistant both see the right version.
