World-Building
World timeline: events and the visual Gantt view
The World Timeline shows all your world's history in a proportional Gantt chart — eras as columns, events as bars spanning date ranges.
Adding timeline events
In your world's Timeline tab, click + Event. Each event has:
- Name and description
- Era it belongs to
- In-world start and end dates — determines its position and width on the chart
- Entity links — connect the event to characters, locations, factions, etc. from your Codex
The Gantt chart
The chart renders eras as proportional columns based on their relative lengths. Events appear as bars with fractional year positioning — so an event in year 3 of an era that spans 10 years appears at 30% across that column.
Navigation
- Zoom in/out to see more or less detail
- Pan left and right across the full timeline
- Hover any event bar for a tooltip with its name and date range
- Click an event to open its detail page
Linked entities
Events with entity links show the linked entity names on the event card. Clicking an entity name navigates to its Codex detail page. This makes the timeline a two-way navigation tool — you can move from the timeline into the Codex and back.
