Beta Reading
Deadline enforcement and reader re-approval
Beta campaign deadlines are enforced in real time — readers who pass their deadline lose access immediately at every entry point.
How it works
Each time an approved reader tries to access a manuscript scene, the platform checks the current time against the reader's deadline. If the deadline has passed, the reader is shown an "Access expired" message rather than the content.
This check happens on every page load, so there is no grace window.
Re-approving an expired reader
If a reader needed more time (travel, illness, missed the window), you can re-approve them:
- Open the beta campaign management page
- Find the reader in the Approved list (expired readers have a red badge)
- Click Re-approve — this resets their deadline to the current target completion date
The reader immediately regains access and receives a notification.
Deadline warning emails
Readers receive an automatic email 24 hours before their deadline reminding them to finish. No action is needed from you — this is sent automatically for every approved reader in every campaign.
Canceling a campaign
If you cancel a campaign before the deadline, all approved readers receive a personalized email notifying them that access has ended. The email is sent automatically — you don't need to reach out individually.
