Desktop App
Installing and licensing the desktop app
The Stream Facility Desktop app is a native Windows/macOS application for writing offline. It syncs with your web account when you're ready.
Download
Go to Dashboard → Desktop on the web platform. The page automatically shows the latest release version. Download the installer for your operating system:
- Windows —
.exeinstaller (Windows 10/11, 64-bit) - macOS —
.dmginstaller (Universal: Apple Silicon + Intel)
Your license file
The desktop app requires a license file tied to your account. On the same Dashboard → Desktop page:
- Click Download License
- Save the license file somewhere accessible
- On first launch of the desktop app, click Import License and select the file
Your license is valid as long as your subscription is active (monthly or annual). If your subscription lapses, the app keeps your local writing working but disables sync and updates until you renew.
Updating the app
When a new version is available, you'll see a notification in the app. Download and install the new installer — it updates over the existing installation without losing your local data.
Security
License files are signed with HMAC-SHA256. A tampered or forged license file is rejected by the app at startup.
