Full-text search in the desktop app

The desktop app includes a full-text search panel that searches across all scene content in your local project.

Opening search

In the Write view, click Search in the toolbar. The search panel opens on the right side, leaving the editor visible.

How search works

As you type, results appear with a short debounce so search doesn't fire on every keystroke. Results are:

• Grouped by chapter and scene
• Shown with surrounding context (a few lines before and after the match)
• Up to 50 hits per query

Navigating results

Click any result to jump directly to that scene in the editor, with the search match highlighted.

Tips

• Search is case-insensitive
• You can search for character names, specific phrases, or partial words
• Results update as you edit — useful when tracking repetitive word use across a draft
