Hints — Chapter & Scene Summaries in the Write View

The Hints toggle in the Write toolbar shows your chapter summaries and scene notes as faint inline prompts alongside the manuscript. Use them as writing targets while drafting without switching to the Plan view.

Enabling Hints

Click the Hints button in the Write toolbar (alongside Codex, Notes, and Assist). When enabled, chapter summary text and scene notes appear above each section in a muted, greyed style — visible but clearly distinct from your prose.

What Counts as a Hint

• Chapter summaries — the summary field on each chapter in Plan view
• Scene notes — the notes field on each scene in Plan view

Sections with no summary or notes show no hint text.

Editing Hints

Hints in the Write view are read-only. To add or change a summary, switch to Plan and edit the chapter or scene there. Chapter summaries and scene notes both save on blur.

Persistence

Your Hints toggle state is saved per draft in your browser. Opening the same draft on another device starts with Hints off by default.
